For a while now I have been spending more time on planning out how I want the future of this blog to be and what direction I want to take it. At its core it is all about my journey of collecting all the Silver Surfer issues on this planet.
This has resulted in me commissioning a new header image that you can now see at the top of this site.
This image was created by the very talented Mark Marianelli from Six Am Comics. I have been following Mark on twitter for a long time now and I am in love with his cute and very whimsical approach to all the classic comic characters you know and love.
Below is the site banner in all its glory as well as some more artwork taken from Marks twitter over at Six Am Comics twitter page. I am hoping to get some more made in the new year to make it a rotating image.
Who do you think I should get in the next images? Comment below!
Here is some more amazing work by Mark, head over to his twitter and commission some work for yourself now.
Stay tuned for next week as I have a haul blog post coming. I am just deciding if this should be in a video format or a combination of blog and video.
If you are like me you will constantly wish you had the body of a greek god so you could take on halloween as the Silver Surfer himself
This year one guy; Jesse from the youtube channel PrankvsPrank. Took it to the extreme and even made a fully functioning board as well, then went for a surf around new york city and the reaction from the public was amazing.
Maybe it is time I started to prepare myself to finally take the challenge of becomming the Silver Surfer for next halloween.
Below is the video of him surfing around and below that is the process of turning him into our favourite silver guy.
Have you ever dressed up on halloween as the silver surfer, let me know in the comics or tweet me a pic @aaron_rackley
It has been a very long time since I done any sort of update from the Silver Surfer world, I will admit with my lack of purchasing issues has made my passion for keeping up to date with news some what low. I want this to change.
Today I looked across the web and came across 2 things I want to share with you.
1. Some cover previews for issue 9 and 10
Issue 9 (above) introduces a new planet called Inkandesha populated by living holograms and Issue 10 (below) will bring back Norrin’s old task master Galactus, I am truly excited for both of these issues and can not wait to see the amazing art hidden within.
2. The guys over at Marvel have on their very own blog done a very nice intro to the above 2 upcoming issues alongside a Q&A with Mike Allred about his process. So head over to their post.
here is a preview
Marvel.com: You and Dan seem to be having more fun on this book than just about anyone in comics. What’s your secret to comic collaborative happiness?
Mike Allred: Chemistry has a lot to do with it. I feel the [whole] team is inspired, enthusiastic, and has great affection for the characters.
Today over on facebook Mike Allred released preview information for issue 8 of volume 8.
So here it is in all of its outsanding glory.
SILVER SURFER #8
DAN SLOTT (W) • MICHAEL ALLRED (A/C)
• Accidentally swallowed by Jumbonox the Giganormous, the Surfer and Dawn are rescued by a society of sentient macro-microorganisms…
• …who, by no fault of their own, might just be the deadliest disease in the universe.
Tomorrow is the release of Issue 4 and while we sit here waiting for the shops to give us our copy here is some issue cover previews, These covers and descriptions where taken from the Michael Allred / Madman Facebook page.
After Norrin Radd’s massive status quo change in the 50th Anniversary issue (no spoilers!), it’s now Dawn Greenwood’s turn. With one simple act of kindness, the Surfer may have forever changed her world.
What’s going on? Why is San Francisco overrun by monsters? And what wall-crawling, web-spinning guest star is swinging by to help out? (Okay, we’ll tell you that one! It’s Peter Parker, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN!)
• All this and tons of cosmic weirdness, surprise super heroes and special stories as we celebrate the 200th SILVER SURFER issue!
Norrin and Dawn are back out in space and back in trouble!
While at the universe’s slickest space casino, the Silver Surfer may be gambling away more than he thinks.
The stakes have never been this cosmic!
Silver Surfer, Volume 8, Issue 7
What do you think of the covers. Let me know in the comments below.
May started off with an amazing tweet series from the great Dan Slott on how they make an issue of the Silver Surfer. The tweets focused on the now very infamous issue 11 (Möbius strip) from last year.
Here is the tweets that Dan Posted on his twitter page. Please click through and read all the extra information, it is an amazing insight into the silver surfer world and all the minds behind the team bringing us all these non stop great issues, and of course it means that Dan Slott has provided us with so many more insider Silver Surfer images. 🙂 I will try to add them to a behind the scenes gallery here soon.
SILVER SURFER #11 was a bizarre comic to work on.

The upcoming next issue for the Silver Surfer is a special one. For over 50 years we have been graced with story after story of the Silver cosmic power wielding super hero; protecting not only Earth but the universe from various races and situation we find ourselves in.
This next issue from Dan Slott and Mike Allred Have devised a situation that could change the very world of the Silver Surfer as we know it and with the preview cover of issue 4 showing the Silver guy in a hospital bed. What could that mean?
